Visual Shorts was conceived in 2019 by Zeynep Kaserci — a graduate visual anthropologist and a filmmaker. Her idea was simple — to establish a media production company that would apply techniques from visual anthropology to the practice of non-fiction filmmaking.
Zeynep believed that almost every type of audio-visual material, from wedding films to corporate advertisements, should be attuned to the subtleties of people's characters, motivations, and actions. These are the foundations of social sciences. This is the ethos of Visual Shorts.
Our Story
Who We Are

Zeynep Kaserci
Founder & Filmmaker
Zeynep is a visual storyteller whose main focus is on video production and documentary media. She is mainly interested in exploring the poetics of everyday life through the medium of film.
Born in Izmir, Turkey, she moved to the UK to study anthropology and art history at the University of St Andrews after which she has done her masters in visual anthropology at the University of Manchester. She has done research on Mahayana Buddhism in Dharamsala, India (2016) and hazelnut cultivation in north-eastern Turkey (2019).
Building upon her academic education, Zeynep developed an eye for aesthetics together with an understanding of human relationships. Through her media work, she explores the complexity of social and cultural life, hoping to make short films and documentaries that generate conversations and bring people closer together.
In addition to Zeynep, Visual Shorts works with a wide network of talented freelance creators: photographers, videographers, sound recordists, editors and others. All of them have long backgrounds in arts and social studies. All of them have worked in different countries and speak different languages. Thus, depending on the requirements of each project, a specific creative team can be assembled, ensuring that the needs of our customers are optimally satisfied.
